Collection: Abbey Farm, Abbey Hulton

This enhanced image depicts the historical Abbey Farm, situated on Birches Head Road, which bridges over the River Trent. The farm's roots trace back to the early 1700s, once home to John Bourne, forebear to Hugh Bourne, a notable figure in Primitive Methodism. Despite its early 19th-century reconstruction, parts of the building may date to the 17th century, integrating stones from the nearby abbey ruins. The farmhouse showcases a blend of brick and original stonework, with a classic two-story structure, a central entrance porch, and symmetrically placed windows, topped with a gabled roof and chimneys.
